A nurse has finally won her battle to get a payout on her critical illness insurance cover, after being told by the insurance company that she could not claim because of non-disclosure of medical information. The policyholder, a fifty five year old nurse, had taken out a critical illness insurance policy with Abbey National in 2001, but this had been passed over the a company called Phoenix at a later date as part of the sale of one of its divisions. A recent report has indicated that consumers across the UK could be wasting thousands of pounds on useless insurance policies that they can either never claim on or that cover them for something that they are already covered for by some means or another. The report comes from the consumer group Which? with officials from the group stating that many consumers are wasting money on ‘useless and expensive’ cover which in many cases is simply not needed. Of course, the reason why many parents are doing this is to cut back on the cost of cover, which can be very costly for younger and more inexperienced drivers.
