The leading insurance company, Legal and General, has announced that some of its insurance staff members will be receiving valuable training from the Samaritans in a bid to teach them how to more effectively deal with the sensitive issues that often arise when it comes to insurance issues. Samaritans are trained to deal with a range of sensitive issues in a sympathetic and understanding way, and will be passing their skills on to insurance staff to make it easier for them to deal with a range of sensitive issues when dealing with insurance matters.

Experts state that many of those that contact insurance companies for advice or with regards to a claim are in a situation that required careful and sensitive handling. However, without the right type of training this can prove increasingly difficult for staff members. Situations such as the death of a loved one are very sensitive, and many insurance staff members are not equipped or trained to deal effectively with such situations at present.

It is hoped that with comprehensive training from the Samaritans insurance staff members will have a better understanding of how to deal with such issues. The training will entail teaching the insurance staff members how to be more sensitive and understanding in such situations, whilst still remaining professional and friendly. It is hopes that this will help to ease the situation for customers that are going through a hard time and contact the insurance company with regards to a claim or simply for further advice.

One official stated that it was important for staff members to be able to exercise sympathy and understanding, as many customers that contact insurance companies are already going through a difficult enough time without being dealt with insensitively.
