Post office now offering pet insurance cover
Pet insurance cover is something that many people in the UK take up. As a nation of animal lovers, many of us want to provide our pets with protection in the event of an accident, sickness, or injury, ensuring that the pet can get the treatment or surgery that it needs. There are a number of providers that offer pet insurance to suit a wide range of needs and circumstances, so consumers are able to compare different policies in order to find the most suitable and affordable one.
A recent report has shown that the Post Office is now joining the league of providers that offer pet insurance in the UK. The Post Office has branched out in many diverse directions over recent years in a bid to discourage branch closure, and pet insurance cover is one of the latest products that it has launched. With the Post Office being a trusted name in many households, and particularly amongst older people, many pet owners may express interest in this cover.
The policy offered by the post office provides a range of benefits, including emergency kennel and cattery cover, as well as cover whilst overseas. It also provides vet bills of up to £5000 per condition, and pets of all ages can be covered. Payouts on claims can continue for up to a year following the initial treatment, and the excess that is paid by the policyholder is fixed at £75.
An official from the Post office stated: “Dogs and cats are often a huge part of the family with 11% of people saying they would re-mortgage their house to pay for a vet bill.”
