Consumers are not taking time to compare car insurance deals
A recent report has shown that many drivers in the UK do not shop around for car insurance, and many may be paying over the odds on their premiums as a result of this. The research was conducted by Sainsbury’s and shows that large number of consumers in the UK will simply go with the first quote that they receive for their car insurance rather than taking the time to shop around. Experts state that the rising cost of car insurance premiums makes it all the more important to compare deals before purchasing insurance cover.
The research conducted by Sainsbury’s indicates that one in five consumers simply went with the first quote they received when looking for insurance cover. Because the cost of insurance cover can vary widely from one provider to another, most industry experts state that consumers should get at least three different quotes before making a decision, as this could save the average consumer a fair amount of money on the cost of their premiums.
The cost of car insurance has risen dramatically over recent years, and younger drivers in particular have been hit by more expensive premiums. Other factors that affect the cost of over include the make and model of the car, any past claims, your job, where you live, whether the car has any modifications, and the amount of mileage that you do. Officials advise those looking to cut the cost of cover to reduce their mileage wherever possible and opt for a smaller engine size.
Younger drivers that have recently passed their tests can also benefit from lower premiums by taking the Pass Plus driving test, which can save them up to 35% off the cost of their premiums.
